Jack Oakie (Lewis Delaney Offield) Born Sedalia, Missouri, November 12, 1903 (grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma) Died Los Angeles, California, January 23, 1978 Age 74 (aortic aneurysm) Popular motion picture star who had a successful radio career despite being legally deaf. Heard on Jack Oakie College, Lux, Camel Caravan, Rudy Vallee, Screen Guild, Charlie McCarthy, and Command Performance. Never legally changed his name.

Oakie, Jack (birth name was Lewis Delaney Offield) Born in Sedalia, Missouri 11/12/1903; died 1/23/1978 of an aortic aneursym in Northridge, California. Married and divorced to actresses Venita Varden (1936-1945); Victoria Horne (1948- 1978 his death). Oakie's family moved to the state of Oklahoma when he was two years old, which is the basis of his stage name (Oakie). He studied business but turned, moved to New York where he made his stage debut in 1922.

Rightly Ralph McCoy on The Real McCoys for CBS-TV (1957-?).
