Born in Lancashire, England 9/9/1900; died 12/20/1954 of liver cancer in Los Angeles, California. Hilton's first novel was Catherine Herself (1920). Hilton created the mythical utopia, "Shangri-La" in his 1933 novel, "Lost Horizon." Host and narrator for Hallmark Playhouse on CBS-Radio (1948-1953).
