Michener was an orphan that was adopted by a Quaker family, growing up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Michener began his career as an English teacher, was a Navy historian during WWII. Writer of 48 books during his career. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for his "Tales Of The South Pacific" in 1947. Created Adventures In Paradise on ABC-TV (1959-1962), but had nothing to do with the series after selling it to ABC-TV. Television miniseries Centennial on NBC (1978-1980); Space on CBS (1985-1987) were both based on his novels. Guest on many television shows including Critic At Large for ABC-TV (1948-1949).
