Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey 2/1/1891; died 11/17/1977 in New York City. Johnson was a pianist in clubs, theaters and resorts, accompanist to vocalists Bessie Smith, Mamie Smith and Ethel Waters. Guest star on Eddie Condon's Jazz Concerts for NBC-BLUE and ABC (1944-1945). Featured pianist on This Is Jazz for Mutual-Radio (1947).
