Born in Cleveland, Ohio 7/14/1915; died 2/29/2004 at his Malibu, California home. Lawrence began his career as a continuity editor at KMPC-Radio (1937-1939). Lawrence was one of the founding fathers of the Armed Forces Radio Service, a writer of Army-Navy special programs for D-Day and VJ-Day. Writer or story adapter for radio programs including Everything For The Boys on NBC (1944).

Lawrence and fellow writer Bob Lee formed a partnership that lasted more than fifty years, which ended in 1994 when Lee died. The team wrote for radio programs including Everything for the Boys on NBC (1944-1945); Request Performance on CBS (1945-1946); summer replacement for Amos 'n' Andy series, Call For Music on CBS and NBC (1947-1949); Presenting Charles Boyer on NBC (1950); The Halls Of Ivy on NBC (1950-1952). The team produced and wrote radio programs including the syndicated ZIV series, Favorite Story (1946-1949); Young Love on CBS (1949-1950). The team adapted stories for radio programs including The Hallmark Hall Of Fame (The Hallmark Playhouse) on CBS (ca late 1940s to 1955); The Railroad Hour on NBC (1949-1954). The team wrote some 39 stage plays, including the classic courtroom drama, "Inherit the Wind." Twelve of the team's collaborations reached Broadway stage. The team wrote and produced television programs including the syndicated series, Favorite Story (1952-1954).
