Spoiler : Born in Calcutta, India 2/14/1904; died 3/18/1980 of a heart attack in New York City. Married to accountant Nicholas Meredith Turner (1947-?). Her father was working in India as a Civil Engineer when she was born. Orphaned at age six, she was raised in a Pennsylvania orphanage and a Catholic convent in New Jersey. 1924 Broadway debut in The Miracle. She was appearing on radio by 1926, by 1935 she was nicknamed, "The Queen of Radio." She never did appear on screen; provided songs for the heroine in the 1939 animated feature, Guliver's Travels.
