Born in Crawfordsville, Indiana 5/31/1901; died 5/26/1959 of a heart attack in Los Angeles, California. Kelly began his professional singing career as Master Joe Kelly, The Irish Nightingale. Later he formed a band called Kelly's Klowns that performed for some ten years in vaudeville, on stage with stock companies and minstrel shows. He began his radio career with his comic partner Jack Holden as The Two Lunatics of the Air on Battle Creek, Michigan radio stations. On screen with The National Barn Dance (1944).
