Born in New York City ca 1892; died 4/29/1954 at age 62 in New York City. Dropped out of school and held various jobs until he partnered with Aleen Bronson as a vaudeville comedy act. During his career, he was a writer of several hundred skits for movies and plays. He also penned radio scripts. Author of From the Honky Tonk to the Palace, as was co-author of From Vaude to Video with Abel Green, Variety's former editor.

Laurie made his radio debut in the 1920s as host of a program on KYW-Chicago. Panelist on Can You Top This? for WOR-New York and the NBC, Mutual and ABC Radio Networks (1940-1954); ABC-TV (1950-1951). Sniffy on the Mutual-Radio soap, We Are Always Young (1941).
