Joe Penner (Pintér József) Born Nagybecskerek, Austria-Hungary (now Zrenjanin, Serbia), November 11, 1904 Died Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, January 10, 1941 Age 36 (heart attack) Discovered by Rudy Vallee, he had a simple, warm delivery which most comedians after 1940 considered hackneyed. Never seen without his cigar.

Penner, Joe (birth name was Josef Pinter) Born in Nagechkereck, Hungary 11/11/1904; died 1/10/1941 of a heart attack while asleep in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When he was three years old, his parents immigrated to America, and Joe stayed behind with his uncle in Hungary. At age seven, he joined his parents, who had settled in Detroit, Michigan. On screen in many shorts (1930-1939), features including The Day The Bookies Wept (1939).

Penner gained fame with with his catchphrases "Wanna a duck?," and "You nasty man!" Voted the best radio comedian in 1934. Star of The Joe Penner Show (The Baker's Broadcast) on CBS-Radio (1933-1935); Cocomalt show on CBS-Radio (1936-1938); Huskies show on CBS-Radio (1938-39); The Tip Top Show on NBC-BLUE (1939-1940).
