Attended the University of California. Archer began acting with bit parts in serials including Dick Tracy Returns (1938), then entered a drama contest for up-and-coming actors on Jesse L. Lasky's Gateway To Hollywood CBS radio program in 1939, which featured a RKO screen test as first prize. Last movie was providing voice of a Soviet soldier in Command And Conquer: Red Alert (1996).
