McIntire, John (birth name was John Herrick McIntire)
Born in Spokane, Washington 6/27/1907; died 1/30/1991 of cancer and emphysema in Pasadena, California. Married to actress Jeanette Nolan (1935-1991 his death). Father of deseased actor Tim McIntire. Raised on a Montana ranch where he was a bronco-busting champion. In the late 1920s, while attending the University of Southern California he began his radio career as an announcer at KEJK-Beverly Hills, which became KMPC after Macmillan Petroleum Company, a local gas supplier bought the station (firm's initials were incorporated into the station's call letters). Mr Fancypants, the interlocutor for Beverly Hillbillies on KMPC during the early 1930s. Screen debut as the radio announcer in The Hucksters (1947), then played Sam Faxon in Call Northside 777 (1948). Last movie was playing Amos Reed in Turner & Hooch (1989).
