Spoiler : Cash, Johnny (birth name was John Ray Cash) Born in Kingsland, Arkansas 2/26/1932; died 9/12/2003 from complications of diabetes, which caused respiratory failure at the Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Cash had been released from the hospital two days prior to his death after a two-week stay for treatment of an unspecified stomach ailment. Married and divorced to Vivian Liberto' (1955-1967); singer June Carter (1968-2003 her death). Cash served in the Air Force (1951-1954), learning to play the guitar while stationed in Germany. He began his music career performing on radio station KWEM-Memphis, then was a member of Johnny Cash and the Tennessee vocal group which signed a contract with Sun Records in 1955. He recorded Hey Porter while at Sun Records, which was an instant hit. He was nicknamed "the Man In Black" when he joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1957 at age 25. I Walk the Line, A Boy Named Sue, and Folsom Prison Blues are among the many hit tunes he recorded.

Guest star on television programs including The Jimmy Dean Show for CBS (1957); syndicated series Ranch Party (1958); Country Music Spotlight (1994). Guest host for The Kraft Music Hall several times on NBC-TV (1967-1971). Star of The Johnny Cash Show on ABC-TV (1969-1971); CBS-TV (1976).

Spoiler : Cash won eleven Grammy Awards, most recently in 2003, when Give My Love to Rose earned him honors as best male country vocal performance. He was elected to the Country Hall of Fame in 1980, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
