Apparently, she wanted to play some roles in which she played a smarter woman, more sophisticated, and the executives wanted her to continue playing more ditzy blondes. Although that movie where she becomes a stockholder she comes across as fairly savvy (if I have the right movie in mind).

I was about 15 years old when I saw Judy Holliday and her last Broadway production hotspot unfortunately this musical was not a hit and I believe she passed away a year or two after that short run on Broadway

Judy Holliday (1921 ~ 1965) Holliday beat out Gloria Swanson, Bette Davis, Anne Baxter and Eleanor Parker to win the Best Actress Oscar for 1950's "Born Yesterday". Other films included: "Adam's Rib" (1949), "The Marrying Kind" (52), "It Should Happen To You" (54), "Phffft" (54), "The Solid Gold Cadillac" (56), "Full of Life" (57) and "Bells Are Ringing" (60). Judy was a long-time heavy smoker, which contributed to her passing from breast cancer in 1965, two weeks before her 44th birthday.

In the late 1930s, Holiday Green was a lyricist performing with a group in Greenwich Village cabarets called The Revuers that featured Adolph Green and Betty Comden. In 1939, the group persuaded Max Gordon, the owner of the Village Vanguard to allow them to open in his club. After their 1939 opening, they performed material including freewheeling sketches like "The Banshee Sisters" and "The Baroness Bazooks," a zany operetta. The group was frequently accompanied at the piano by one of Green's friends, a talented young musician named Leonard Bernstein.

She was WONDERFUL!!! Sadly, she died young, so not that many people saw her work. Her two biggest films were BORN YESTERDAY and BELLS ARE RINGING. If they should come up on TV, watch them. She was unique.
