Spoiler : June Foray (June Lucille Forer) Born Springfield, Massachusetts, September 18, 1917 Age 97

Spoiler : June Foray is gone ... I met June, the most celebrated voice-over actor in the business, (recall her wonderful work as the Grandmother in Mulan?) while I was working on radio ... can’t remember the show but I do remember I had only a small part. After the first “read-thru” the studio engineer assigned the microphones. It happened often that June and I stood on either side of the same one. Well, I am 5’2” ... June was not quite 5 feet tall ... so we were a good match-up for sound. June was the pro & I was the newbie. She knew that because of the way I handled my “pages.” After the on-mike “read thru,” June moved to my side of the mike ... threw me a broad smile ... grabbed and reassembled my pages. She began to bend a top corner of each page making them much easier to turn when we were under the pressure of actually recording the show. June stepped back and said, “There you go, honey ... er ... what’s your name?” Just then, the red light went on ... we were on the air. It took months for June to stop calling me, “Honey.” I was working a lead role on an ABC network show. We had an early afternoon three hour break before we went on the air, so each week I’d have dinner at the Hollywood Brown Derby. There was June at her very special table... couldn’t miss it. It was in sort of a wide hallway between the Derby’s dining room and the bar. On the wall behind her was a beautiful large caricature of her sketched by THE Eddie Vitch! A phone was near by because this was where she’d get calls from radio producers to book her for a radio program for that evening. Everyone knew June ... she knew everyone ... including me ... that was always special to me in the decades to come. Blessings to her family and her close friends. June has had a guardian angel ... he is the remarkable artist and designer, David Nimitz. David’s design and art talents touch you down to your toes when you see his work. I have known him for many years and want to declare ... “David, bless you for all the helpful efforts you have performed in behalf of so many others ... including me. June Foray almost reached her one hundredth birthday. Her last few years would not have been as comfortable as they were if you had not been there for her. You are amazing. There is a special place for caring people like you.”

Spoiler : June Foray has died, less than two months shy of her 100th birthday. I'll always remember her for Rocky the Flying Squirrel on "The Bullwinkle Show,"

Spoiler : She was the last of the Rocky and Bullwinkle cast: Bill Scott, Paul Frees, Walter Tetley, and William Conrad all predeceased her.

Spoiler : Such a talent, she brought joy and laughter to so many. May she Rest In Peace and may her family, friends and admirers know she made a positive difference. How would we have grown up with the threat of nuclear annihilation, Cold War and the loss of Camelot without the comforts that her many talents delivered to us. Thank You, June Foray.

Spoiler : I think she voiced almost every well-known cartoon character. Granny and Rocky the Flying Squirrel are two that come to my mind. She will be missed.

Spoiler : as a kid growing up her voice was there in so many shows .Rocky and Bullwinkle ,Loony Toons and countless others .one of my favorite Radio Shows The Stan Freberg Show had her as a cast member.She was such a talent and will be missed

Spoiler : Born in Springfield, Massachusetts ca 1919. Foray began acting on local radio at age twelve with The WBZA Players. By the age of seventeen, she was writing and acting in Lady Make Believe, a program broadcast on KMPC-Los Angeles.
