Spoiler : Griffin, Ken (birth name was Kenneth Wilson Griffin) Born in Boone County, Missouri 12/28/1909; died 3/11/1956 in Chicago, Illinois. Griffin began his career as a theater organist in Colorado (1930-1935), then moved to Chicago to play organ on radio programs.

Spoiler : The Ken Griffin that 'Jack' speaks about was an organ player. The ACTOR Ken Griffin was someone totally different. I've done research on Newspapers.com and Ancestry.com (yes, I'm an OTR buff and die hard genealogist) and various OTR books. What I have found is based on newspapers, actor Ken's OBIT, and his WWII Draft Registration Card. His obit is in MANY newspapers across the country, but as he died in Chicago, the one in the Chicago Tribune will suffice here. It's dated 3 Jan 1951. He died a day after playing his role of 'Vic Hardy' in "Jack Armstrong." He had been taken to the hospital by his wife, Irene. He was 42 - so born about 1909. I have found nothing on Irene yet. But his birth is 23 May 1907 in Enid, OK and his death is 3 Jan 1951/Chicago. His obit is listed in the Tribune and Kenneth Griffin, Radio Actor. The organist Ken Griffin just happened to be coming on the scene in the late 40s and made the Chicago area his home but his 1956 obit only speaks about his hit song and his playing at concerts and clubs - nothing about radio at all. But with the same name it is no wonder that the two were confused with each other. Our Ken (actor) appeared in Backstage Wife (Larry Noble) at the series creation, Destination Freedom (many episodes), Guiding Light (Ed) 1937 to the mid-40s, Jack Armstrong (Vic Hardy) 1950 to 2 Jan 51, Peter Quill (Captain Roger Dorn), Road of Life (Jim Brent) 1940s, Security Agent USA, Woman In White (Dr. Paul Burton) 1944-48, World's Great Novels, Curtain Time, The Romance of Helen Trent 1930s, Terry and the Pirates 1939, Author's Playhouse 1940, Theater of the Air. Oh, he and WGN producer/Director were heavily involved in the Chicago yacht racing scene in the 40s - they bought a 60-ft cutter ("Revenge") together and raced at many events - and won quite a few. They were in the pages of the Tribune often.
