Born in Hamar, Norway 7/12/1895; died 12/8/1962 in Oslo, Norway. She was an opera singer in Europe and America. During the 1930s, Flagstad sang on radio programs including General Motors Concerts; The New York Philharmonic Orchestra; The Metropollitan Opera Company.

Following the end of WWII, she was accused of collabration with the Nazi regime. She was aquitted of the charge, but the fact that she lived in Norway during WWII with her husband, who was a member of the Norwegian Nazi Party, it caused a decline in popularity, and her retirement in 1953.
