Hayton, Lennie (birth name was Leonard George Hayton) Born in New York City 2/13/1908; died 4/24/1971 in Palm Springs, California. Married to singer- actress Lena Horne (1947-1971 his death). Pianist with bands of Spencer Clark; Cass Hagen; Frankie Trumbauer; Bix Beiderbecke; Red Nichols; Joe Venuti. Composer of tunes including Flying Fingers. Arranger and conductor for Paul Whiteman radio programs during the 1930s. Formed his own band in 1937. Joined ASCAP in 1953.
