I like to watch Payton Place to watch Lloyd Nolan, as Dr. Swain, deliver his trial testimony. It was a stirring lecture about doing the right thing and looking out to help others ... every community should have a Dr. Swain. And Lloyd Nolan gave a spot-on portrayal.

Born in San Francisco, California 8/11/1902; died 9/27/1985 of lung cancer in Los Angeles, California. Married (for over fifty years) to former actress Mell Efird (?-1981 her death). Nolan attended Stanford University. He made his acting debut in 1927, then his Broadway stage debut in Cape Cod Follies (1929). Screen debut in Stolen Harmony (1934). Last movie was Hannah And Her Sisters (1985).
