Born in New Orleans, Louisiana 12/7/1911; died 8/24/1978 of pneumonia after being in a coma for several years in New Orleans, Louisiana. Married and divorced to singer Keely Smith (1953-1962); Gia Mainone (1963-?). Trumpet player in New Orleans theaters and clubs before he formed his own band in 1940. Prima appeared on many radio band remotes during the 1930's and 40's. Guest star on television programs including The Dean Martin Show for NBC (1957).

I know that Prima played remotes at the Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He also met Keely Smith there. Does anyone know of his concerts at The Cavalier or other bandleaders who played there? Thanks!
