Host (Martha Dean) on radio station WOR-New York (1934-1940), the program was a helpfull household hints program, and at age 34, McBride portrayed a "grandmotherly" type character with a large family. On the third show McBride claimed that she did not cook well and hated housework. Missouri Governor proclaimed 11/22/1940 as "Mary Margaret McBride Day" in the state of Missouri.

Radio commentator for CBS (1937-1941); NBC (1941-1950); ABC (1950-1954). In 1949, some 40,00 fans packed the old New York Yankee Stadium to pay homage to McBride for her 15 years in broadcasting. McBride was nicknamed, "the female Arthur Godfrey." Host of Mary Margaret McBride on NBC-TV (1948). By 1954, McBride's broadcasting career was ended, and she moved to Kingston, New York. At the time of her death, McBride was hosting a three-times-a-week talk show on WGHQ- New York.
