Spoiler : MAUREEN O'SULLIVAN (1911 ~ 1998) O'Sullivan is best remembered for playing 'Jane' to Johnny Weismuller's 'Tarzan' in six features (from 1932 to '42), beginning with the successful "Tarzan the Ape Man" (1932). She alternated between lead and second lead in her films. Other films included: "Strange Interlude" (32), "Tugboat Annie" (33), "The Thin Man" (34), "The Barretts Of Wimpole Street" (34), "David Copperfield" (35), "Anna Karenina" (35), "The Devil-Doll" (36), "A Day At the Races" (37), "A Yank At Oxford" (38), "The Crowd Roars" (38), "Pride And Prejudice" (40) and "Never Too Late" (65). She is actress Mia Farrow's mother. Maureen passed in 1998 at age 87.

Spoiler : O'Sullivan (1911 – 1998) was an Irish-American actress best known for playing Jane in the Tarzan series of films starring Johnny Weissmuller. O'Sullivan was signed by MGM in 1932, where she would remain for the next decade. She soon played--for the first of six times--the most famous role of her career, the demure but scantily clad Jane, saved by and later wed to the king of the jungle in "Tarzan the Ape Man" (1932). The other five films O'Sullivan made with former Olympic swimmer Weismuller ranged from the superior "Tarzan and His Mate" (1934) to the odd "Tarzan's New York Adventure" (1942).

Spoiler : She was featured with William Powell and Myrna Loy in The Thin Man (1934) and played Kitty in Anna Karenina (1935) with Greta Garbo, Fredric March, and Basil Rathbone. Maureen was a favorite of Irving Thalberg and Louis B. Mayer at MGM and they had big plans for her as a big star. Thalberg's sudden death at age 37 of pneumonia in 1936 put a big damper on the momentum in her pursuit of stardom and was soon relegated to romantic interest roles.

Spoiler : After co-starring with the Marx Bros in A Day At The Races (1937), she appeared as Molly Beaumont in A Yank at Oxford (1938), which was written partly by F. Scott Fitzgerald. At her request, he rewrote her part to give it substance and novelty. She played another Jane in Pride and Prejudice (1940) with Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson, and supported Ann Sothern in Maisie Was a Lady (1941).

Spoiler : After appearing in Tarzan's New York Adventure (1942), O'Sullivan asked MGM to release her from her contract so she could care for her husband, John Farrow, who had just left the Navy with typhoid. She retreated from show business, devoting her time to her family.

Spoiler : When her daughter, actress Mia Farrow, became involved with Woody Allen both professionally and romantically, she appeared in Hannah and Her Sisters, playing Farrow's mother. She had roles in Peggy Sue Got Married (1986) and the science fiction oddity Stranded (1987). Mia Farrow named one of her own sons Ronan O'Sullivan Farrow for her mother.
