Born in Dorchester, England 6/3/1901; died 3/12/1989 of cancer in Brighton, England. Evans began a stage career in 1926 in Cambridge, England. He came to America in 1935. Hollywood screen debut in White Cargo (1930). Became an American citizen in 1941. He served in the US Army during WWII, rising to rank of major and was responsible for organizing shows for the troops serving in the Pacific Theater of the War.

Guest star on many radio programs including the first broadcast of Keep'Em Rolling on Mutual (11/9/1941). Maurice (Samantha's father) on on Bewitched for ABC-TV (1964-1972). 1954 Emmy Award for "Macbeth" that was presented on The Hallmark Hall Of Fame.
