Spoiler : Hi, I wonder if Maurice Joachim of radio fame is the same person who did extensive real estate development around Lake George,NY in 50's and 60's. Thanks, Joel Clark Not a relative, just curious as I may have met Mr. Joachim around 1952.

Spoiler : Maurice Herbert Hentley Joachim was my uncle, (my father's brother). I've been trying to get information about his life in America for a long time. He was never a Hindu - the family lived in the Portuguese quarter of Calcutta and attended The Sacred Heart Church which served the Catholic Portuguese community. Some of the family attended St Thomas's RC Church. Maurice and his wife, Stella and daughter Camille moved to USA and there they had a boy, Paul. Yes, Maurice was involved in real estate and Lake George rings a bell. I cannot find his obituary anywhere which I find odd because prior to his death in 1980 he had moved to be nearer to his sister, Lena Bassett, who lived in Sunnyvale (whom I had met as a child) and I expected to be able to find an announcement somewhere.

Spoiler : Born in Calcutta, India 5/11/1895; died in 11/1980 at Mountain View, California. Joachim eas educated at the University of Calcutta, and Oxford University in England. He served during WWI as a dispatch rider, then returned to India where he renounced Hinduism for Christianity. He moved to America, and is credited with being the first to speak on an NBC religious broadcast after the network was formed in 1926.
