Popular baritone singer that made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1924. Screen debut in Broadway To Hollywood (1931); teamed with Jeanette MacDonald in the 1930's musicals.

Spoiler : Really interesting in 1960 when he was on the show and after being guessed says he had been practicing a very low voice all day but had been instructed by someone in production to use a high squeaky voice, which he proceeded to do. Never knew that occurred, and surprised he didn't just blow the guy off. Then in reference to a question by panelist Stanley Kramer John asks what Kramer meant when he asked if Eddy ever performed on the Strip in California. Really shocked that he didn't know what that meant. Kramer tries to save Daly from embarrassment by saying that was a local joke, but Eddy intervenes saying I assume (correctly) you meant the various nightclubs on the Sunset Strip out in Hollywood. Daly then belatedly catches on and says oh 77, referencing the then popular TV show. However then Eddy responds to that saying he could do an imitation of Cookie. And when John asks him to do Cookie, he pulls out a comb and combs his hair like the so called cool character on the show. Except that the character played by Edd Byrnes was called Kookie, not Cookie.
