Born in Cove, Arkansas 5/30/1906; died 6/7/1978 of a stroke at the Palm Desert, California Eisenhower Medical Center. Goff and Chester Lauck became team early on while Goff was in the grocery business and Lauck a bank clerk.

Goff played the roles of Abner Peabody, postmaster Dick Huddleston, Doc Miller and Squire Skimp on the Lum And Abner radio program for station KTHS-Hot Springs, Arkansas (1931); NBC (1931- 1934); Mutual (1934-1935); NBC-BLUE (1935-1938); CBS (1938-1940); NBC and NBC-BLUE (1941-1944); ABC 1944-1947); CBS (1947-1950); ABC (1953); syndicated (1953).

The comedy team of Chester Lauck (Lum) and Norris Goff (Abner) was on screen in five Lum and Abner movies, Dreaming Out Loud (1940); The Bashful Bachelor (1942); Two Weeks To Live (1943); So This Is Washington (1943); Goin' To Town (1944).
