Spoiler :
Olan Soule (Olan Elbert Soule)
Born LaHarpe, Illinois, February 28, 1909 (grew up in Des Moines, Iowa)
Died Corona, California, February 1, 1994
Age 84 (lung cancer)
Despite only being 5'6" tall and never being over 135 lbs., Olan was a heavyweight among radio actors. After graduating from high school in 1927, he joined a troupe of actors who traveled around Eastern Iowa doing shows in a tent.
He moved to Chicago in 1933 where he was active on Chandu, Bachelor's Children, the First Nighter, and Captain Midnight.
In 1948 he moved to the Los Angeles area. He did lots of TV (we know these credits well--please limit your comments to his radio work and his life). He took over Bob Bailey's part in Let George Do It. And not only was he lab technician Ray Pinker on TV Dragnet, but also on radio. He continued to work in radio when he could find work in radio, culminating with the Alien Worlds series in 1978-80.
For most of his time in Hollywood he was under contract to do voices for Hanna-Barbera cartoons, which he did until he could work no more due to his cancer. (Yes, we know he was Batman!)
In 1992 he moved to a senior citizens' residence in Corona to be near his daughter in Riverside after his wife died (they had been married 63 years). He was diagnosed with cancer only six months before he died from it.
