Obituary: Paul J. Barnes, an actor known as ''the man of a thousand voices,'' died Monday afternoon in Sherman Hospital here. He was 64 years old.
Mr. Barnes was admitted Saturday afternoon with abdominal pain. A hospital nursing supervisor said the cause of death had not been determined.
Mr. Barnes was the radio voice of the second ''Captain Midnight'' show on network radio, which established him as ''the man of a thousand voices.'' He had been president of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the Screen Actors Guild. He was a member of Actors Equity. He was a freelance radio announcer and actor in Chicago and New York until his death.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jordan Barnes, a son, Richard, and a daughter, Debbie. He is also survived by his parents, Isadore and Sadie Zimmerman, and a sister, Harriet Iett Weiss.
