Spoiler : Very sad but a wonderful life! The part about her passing away when her daughter left for the only time is so reminiscent of what happened to my mother, and I've heard it many times from others as well. My mom was dying of cancer and my father was taking care of her 24-7 for weeks, never going anywhere. The very first time my father went out briefly and left us, my mom passed away.

Spoiler : she was wonderfully funny and had a great life, and much of her work still survives. It will continue to bring joy to anyone who hears or reads it.

After her father died when she was two years old, her mother moved to Kasson, Minnesota, then Rochester, Minnesota when she was twelve. She graduated from The University of Minnesota, then worked briefly at The Mayo Clinic before she began her radio career in 1937 at station KATE-Albert Lea, Minnesota KATE-Albert Lea. Then she worked at stations of WCHV-Charlottesville, Virginia and WTBO-Cumberland, Maryland.
