Spoiler :
He would eventually end up dying in a State run halfway house for those awaiting trial in the LA County Courts. He was charged with the attempted murder of his own son, Richard Gibson Aurandt. His son had a volatile relationship with his father and after having had lunch with his mother at their house, he returned to pickup some leftovers he had inadvertantly left. Upon entering the house, the younger Aurandt announced himself loudly (with the intent of disturbing his father's afternoon nap) and went to the kitchen to locate his mother. In the kitchen, Aurandt the Elder confronted his son with a Smith & Wesson police issue .38 revolver to which his son replied d "if it makes you feel like a man, pull the gawddamn trigger!" Aurandt the Younger learned 3 valuable lessons right then and there as he bled out on the kitchen floor
1. Dad was fuckin nuts
2. Never say something stupid like that again when somebody's pointing a loaded gun at you and...
3. Jesus H. Christ, ambulances take forever these days.
Aurandt the Younger would somehow miraculously survive as he was hit at point blank range in the chest where the bullet broke ribs going in and out, tear the aorta and both upper chambers of the heart as the bullet turned bone into shrapnel and the liver would also be damaged by bone splinters. 3 weeks and the humbled smartmouth would leave the hospital where he swore he would see his father rot in prison. He was wrong. Aurand the Elder would die from dementia and liver failure before he would ever see the inside of a courtroom.
Somewhere here in my house I have all the sworn testimony of my Grandmother and my Father against The Elder and it's quite the read.
