Alda, Robert (birth name Alphonso Giuseppe Giovanni Roberto D'Abruzzo) Born in New York City 2/26/1914; died 5/3/1986 of a stroke in Los Angeles, California. Father of actors Alan and Anthony Alda. Alda began his career as a draftsman. Beginning in the early 1930s, be began performing in vaudeville, on radio beginning in 1934. Alda signed a Warner Brothers contract in 1943, making his screen debut with Rhapsody In Blue (1945).
