McCormick, Robert (Colonel Robert R. McCormick)
Born in Chicago, Illinois 7/30/1880; died 4/1/1955. Graduated from Yale in 1903. He served in
the US Army during WWI, rising to the rank of Colonel. He became editor/publisher for the Chicago Tribune that owned radio station WGN-Chicago. McCormick is credited with having the original idea of creating The Chicago Theater Of The Air on WGN (1940); Mutual-Radio (1940- 1955), McCormick was also a commentator on the program.
