Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania 4/29/1904; died 8/7/1969 of a stroke in Las Vegas, Nevada. Morgan began his career working in cold mines beside his father, until he turned to music. As a teenager, he was arranging music for Victor Herbert and John Philip Sousa. He played trombone in The Scranton Sirens, and bands of Ted Fio Rito, Jean Goldkette, Freddy Martin and Phil Spitalny before forming his own band in 1935, and became knownn for his "wah-wah" trombone, and "Music in the Morgan manner."
