Born in Detroit, Michigan 3/8/1918; died 3/22/1974 of cancer. Saxophonist and bandleader that was a member of bands including Tommy Dorsey, Stan Kenton, Benny Goodman, and Gene Krups. He formed his first band in the 1930s, also fronted bands of Tommy Dorsey and Billy May.

The Sam Donahue Orchestra appeared on bands remotes on America and England (BBC) in the middle 1940s, as well remotes from Click in Philadelphia in 1947, and from Jantzen Beach, Portland, Oregon in 1957. Before his death, Donahue was a musical director at a club in Reno, Nevada.
