Ennis, Skinnay (birth name was Edgar Clyde Ennis, Jr)
Born in Salisbury, North Carolina 8/13/1907; died 6/2/1963 of suffocation by choking on a piece of roast beef in a Los Angeles, California restaurant. Married and divorced to vocalist Carmine Calhoun (?-1950). Recording artist on Brunswick, MGM, RCA Victor and Signature record labels.
Screen debut as himself in No Other One (1936). Last movie was with a cameo in Radio Stars on Parade (1945).

Ennis was a drummer with Hal Kemp's band until he formed his own band in 1937, and was heard playing on band remotes with Kemp's group. The Skinnay Ennis Orchestra provided music for radio programs including The Bob Hope Show for NBC (from 1938 to 1943 when he went into the Army to serve during WWII, then returned to the program after WWII service until 1948); The Abbott And Costello Show on ABC (after returning from WWII service ca middle to late 1940's).
