Spoiler : Popular band during the 1930s and 1940s. The trio included brothers Dan, Jack and Karl. The trio included pianist Howard White until his death in 1937 at age 34.

Spoiler : The trio began singing together at an early age, then performed on the vaudeville stage, appeared in several film shorts and recorded on the RCA Victor record label before making their radio debut on stations WGBI and WQAM in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Spoiler : In 1928 the trio with pianist White were featured on their own weekly thirty-minute show (billed as The Landt Trio and White) broadcast on NBC-BLUE. The trio was featured on Pick and Pat for CBS-Radio (1935-1939). The trio with White was featured on Universal Rhythm for NBC- BLUE (1937), WHite died two weeks into the program. By 1936 the trio was on the air every weekday morning, and twice weekly in the evening with a fifteen minute program. Their long-time announcer was Ken Roberts. From 1937, following White's death, Curly Mahr became their pianist, and the trio were billed as The Landt Trio and Mahr. From 1941 to 1946, the trio was featured on their own CBS-Radio program.

Spoiler : The CBS program was Sing Along with the Landt Trio, which continued until fall 1948.

Spoiler : My dad was Dan Landt, the oldest member of the Trio The trio recorded all of their best novely songs for the NBC Thesaurus -- but periodic attempts to find a copy of these recordings (probably on one or more 16 inch discs) has never been successful. If anyone can be of help we'd certainly appreciate it. Four children of the Trio members meet periodically and having access to those recordings would give us all a great boost! FYI, some years after my dad died I became a teacher at Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music, where we champion the idea of people "singing along". (That nnly occurred to me years later). There's an ironic echo of the trio's career at the current time. They began singing with their family on the front porch of their house in Scanton Pa and then moved to radio; I began singing with friends in grad school and then at the Old Town School...and now still so so many years later as part of the School's Wednesday jam, via Zoom.
