He was wonderful in so many! Gone With The wind, the Fighting Sullivans, it's A Wonderful Life, The Hunchback Of Notre Dame; there are too many beautiful performances to count!

Screen debut in Cloudy With Showers (1934). Academy Award for Stagecoach (1939). Last movie was Pocketful Of Miracles (1961). Mayor Russell on the syndicated television series Mayor Of The Town (1954). Host of the syndicated television series, The O. Henry Playhouse (1957). Captain Colin Glencannon on the syndicated television series, Glen- cannon (1959). Emmy Award in 1953 for Best Actor.

Thomas John Mitchell (July 11, 1892 – December 17, 1962) was an American actor whose most famous roles include Gerald O'Hara in Gone with the Wind, Doc Boone in Stagecoach, Uncle Billy in It's a Wonderful Life and Mayor Jonas Henderson in High Noon. He was nominated twice for an Oscar, and he won Best Supporting Actor for Stagecoach (1939). He was the first male actor to win an Oscar, an Emmy, and a Tony Award. In addition to being an actor, he was also a director, playwright, and screenwriter.
