Spoiler : Very good actor, with a great sense of humour. I believe he used to say, 'I'm not an actor, I've got notices to prove it!' Golden age of Hollywood.

Spoiler : He said "...and I've got 50 [or whatever was the number] movies to prove it." Later in life he owned a string of dry cleaners in Los Angeles and earned more money than ever. He was indeed a great actor and a very nice person.

Spoiler : Victor Mature and Hedy Lamarr were two very beautiful people, at one point in time Hedy was voted the most beautiful woman in the world, (I don't know about that) but Victor was a very very good actor,, my favorite movie with Victor was the one where he was a Detective in Las Vegas and his old flame Jane Russel comes back to town and they have a love hate relationship but at the end they become one.

Spoiler : Born in Louisville, Kentucky 1/29/1916 (other sources say 1913 or 1915); died 8/4/1999 in Rancho Santa Fe, California (Mature had been battling cancer for over three years). Married and divorced to Frances Charles (1938-1940); Martha Stephenson Kemp (1941-1943); Dorothy Berry (1948-1955); Joy Urwick (1959); former Chicago opera singer Lorey Sabena (1974-?). Mature was the son of Austrian immigrants. His first job was working in his father's commercial refrigeration business. Moved to Hollywood in the middle 1930's, studied acting at Pasadena Theatre and the Playbox Theatre. Sceen debut in Paths Of Glory (1936), while other sources say The Housekeeper's Daughter (1939). Served in the U.S. Coast Guard (1942-1945). Guest star on many radio programs including The Hollywood Star Playhouse on CBS, NBC and ABC (1950-1953).

Spoiler : During the 1950's Mature was under a $5,000 a week contract with 20th Century Fox. Mature retired in the 1960's, but still appeared in some movies, and his last acting job was in the 1984 made-for-television movie, "Samson And Delilah playing Samson's father.
