The best remembered of her films included: "The Best Years Of Our Lives" (1946), "The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty" (47), "A Song Is Born" (48), "The Girl From Jones Beach" (49), "White Heat" (49), "Red Light" (49), "The Flame and the Arrow" (50), "The West Point Story" (50), "Starlift" (51), "She's Working Her Way Through College" (52), "South Sea Woman" (53), "The Silver Chalice" (54) and "Great Day In The Morning" (56).

Spoiler : The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and A Song is Born are two of my very favorite movies.. She and Danny Kaye were excellent together.

Spoiler : Mayo, Virginia (birth name was Virginia Clara Jones) Born in St. Louis, Missouri 11/30/1920; died 1/17/2005 of pneumonia and heart failure following a long illness at a nursing facility near her home in Thousand Oaks, California. Married to actor Michael O'Shea (?-1973 his death). Following graduation from high school in 1937, Mayo became a dancer with the St. Louis Municipal Opera Company. A vaudeville act called Pansy the Horse asked Mayo to join their team as the girl in their act, which she did, working with them for five years. While appearing in New York in 1941, she met Eddie Cantor when appearing in Cantor's Broadway musical, "Banjo Eyes." Following that, she was appearing in Billy Rose's Diamond Horseshoe nightclub when she came to the attention of Goldwyn who signed her to a MGM contract. Screen debut in bit parts, then star of Sweet Rosie O'Grady (1943). Last movie was The Man Next Door (1997).
