I'm as big a fan of Vivien Leigh's as anyone! If anything, I feel she's been under appreciated both as a movie star and character actress. But given the tragedy that just occurred in Charlottesville, VA, and despite the fact that her portrayal of Scarlett O'Hara is without question her most famous role, I still feel it's in poor taste for you to post this photo of her from "Gone With The Wind" at this moment. This film's romantic portrayal of slavery, slave owners and the Confederacy encapsulates the false view of U.S. history that white supremacists and neo-nazis hold so dear, and are clearly willing to murder for in order to preserve.

Vivian Leigh had such ethereal beauty and such talent! She also had one of the filthiest mouths in show business, but when she cursed she did so with aplomb and a bit of innocence. Her sufferings and death at a relatively young age were so tragic. Laurence Olivier was the epitome of actor, and Johnny Depp in his younger years certainly resembled the great Sir Olivier. I had never noticed. Thanks so much for pointing out that resemblance.

English Vivien Leigh won two Best Actress Academy Awards for portraying southern belles - as Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone With The Wind" (1939) and as Blanche DuBois in "A Streetcar Named Desire" (1951). She was married to Laurence Olivier from 1940 until 1960. She preferred to work on the stage and so the number of films she made was limited. Some of them included: "Fire Over England" (37), "A Yank At Oxford" (38), "Waterloo Bridge" (40), "That Hamilton Woman" (41), "Caesar And Cleopatra" (45), "Anna Karenina" (48), "The Roman Spring Of Mrs. Stone" (61) and "Ship Of Fools" (65). Vivien passed at 53 from recurring tuberculosis.
