Born in Brooklyn, New York 6/30/1879; died 6/12/1955 of a stroke in Hollywood, California. He had suffered a stroke in a taxi enroute to MGM studios three days before his death. Married to actress Mabel Moore (?-?). Actor on stage beginning in 1931. Remembered for his Shakespearean roles (Cyrano de Bergerac). President of The Players (1927-1954). Screen debut in the Warfare Of The Flesh (1917). Last movie was playing King Louis XI in The Vagabond King released in 1956.
