Married to model Susan Randall (?-1979 her death); widow of newsman Chet Huntley Tipton (Tippy) Stringer-Huntley (?-?). Grew up in Southern California. Majored in drama and literature at the Fullerton, California Junior College. After graduating became a radio announcer at KMPC-Los Angeles. Enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942; earned his pilot wings in 1943, was a fighter pilot, then served with the Armed Forces Radio Service during WWII. Screen debut playing an uncredited role of a motorcycle cop in Pillow to Post (1945), then played Max in The Killers (1946). Last feature movie as an actor was playing Mr Mahoney in Killing Cars, last movie was narrating Husdon Hawk (1991).
