Jack Maddison and his father had gone to the Klondike with high hopes, but bad luck and hardship had dogged their activities, and their cash was nearly gone. Jack's father was an invalid, and Jack himself had finally been forced to abandon work on his mine, The Klondike Queen. He didn't know that two men worked their secretly... Carslake and Peavy went into the mine night after night to work by lantern light, and were deepening a side tunnel. |
