Clark Kent discovers that Lois Lane has disappeared and her apartment has been wrecked. When Lois calls, she says that she has "the story of the century," but that she needs $10,000 in cash! Then, Perry White says that he needs $10,000 in cash too! This story is based on the scripts used February 27 to March 9, 1942 on the syndicated series. (see cat. #58087). Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings at a single bound! Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s SUPERMAN! Based on the comic created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1938. Superman, disguised on earth as Clark Kent, “leads a never-ending battle for truth, justice, and the American way”. In the storyline the true identity of Superman was closely guarded by the producers. If any of the peripheral characters discovered that Clark Kent was Superman they always ended up being killed of either by accident or by disaster. This situation was also mirrored in the real world. It wasn’t until 1946, six years into the run, that listeners discovered that Clayton Bud Collyer played the part of Superman. |
