Air Date | : | 03.12.1947 |
Plot | : | + Sponsored by: Kellogg's Pep, Kellogg's Rice Krispies. Vincent Kirby and his "Knights Of The White Carnation" plan to use Jimmy Olsen and Jack Wilson to start riots and race hatred all over the city. Jackson Beck doubles as Fargo and triples as a night reporter. This epsidoe might be based on the Stetson Kennedy book, "Inside The Invisible Empire." Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings at a single bound! Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s SUPERMAN! Based on the comic created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1938. Superman, disguised on earth as Clark Kent, “leads a never-ending battle for truth, justice, and the American way”. In the storyline the true identity of Superman was closely guarded by the producers. If any of the peripheral characters discovered that Clark Kent was Superman they always ended up being killed of either by accident or by disaster. This situation was also mirrored in the real world. It wasn’t until 1946, six years into the run, that listeners discovered that Clayton Bud Collyer played the part of Superman. |
