Plot | : | + Sponsored by: Kellogg's Pep, Kellogg's Krumbles (G. I. money belt premium). Superman regains his super-powers and memory. "Bud Smith" pitches his last strikeout as he hurls the Kryptonite to the bottom of the ocean. The last episode of the adventure, the final show of the season. Superman wishes his listeners a happy summer. The show is to resume September 29, 1947. Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings at a single bound! Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s SUPERMAN! Based on the comic created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1938. Superman, disguised on earth as Clark Kent, “leads a never-ending battle for truth, justice, and the American way”. In the storyline the true identity of Superman was closely guarded by the producers. If any of the peripheral characters discovered that Clark Kent was Superman they always ended up being killed of either by accident or by disaster. This situation was also mirrored in the real world. It wasn’t until 1946, six years into the run, that listeners discovered that Clayton Bud Collyer played the part of Superman. |
