Plot | : | +Sponsored by: Kellogg's Pep, Kellogg's Rice Krispies (movie star photos premium). Chapter 16. Joe Solitaire plans to bribe the legislator Tom McVane, to prevent passage of the bill to outlaw punchboards. When a bribe doesn't work...something else does! Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings at a single bound! Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s SUPERMAN! Based on the comic created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1938. Superman, disguised on earth as Clark Kent, “leads a never-ending battle for truth, justice, and the American way”. In the storyline the true identity of Superman was closely guarded by the producers. If any of the peripheral characters discovered that Clark Kent was Superman they always ended up being killed of either by accident or by disaster. This situation was also mirrored in the real world. It wasn’t until 1946, six years into the run, that listeners discovered that Clayton Bud Collyer played the part of Superman. |
