Most of us have at least a passing familiarity with the story of Don Diego de la Vega, the Spanish nobleman in colonial California who would don a mask by night, righting wrongs and using his rapier to carve a dashing Z on the chests of his enemies. Alas, there was no such legendary figure from old California. He was the product of a New York pulp writer named Johnston McCulley and chosen as the first hero of Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford’s United Artists studio.
The Adventures Of Zorro came to the radio during 1957, during the Golden Age of the Hollywood Western on TV and movies.
