In the year 1952, the airwaves were filled with the razor-edged wit and barbed humor of the talented Ms. Irene Dunne as she played the tough and slightly cynical newspaper editor, Susan Armstrong on Bright Star.
Bright Star was an amusing albeit rather short-lived old time radio comedy serial that focused on the trials and tribulations that a small town newspaper went through. Fred MacMurray provided the perfect foil for Dunne and played the role of ace reporter for the Hillsdale Morning Star, George Harvey. The two would often clash as Harvey's idealism would often chafe and irritate the more worldly Armstrong, and their verbal sparrings would result in highly entertaining comedic fun.
