Title | : | fibber mcgee and molly (0024) anything to get out of scrubbing the back porch |
Air Date | : | 09.23.1935 |
Plot | : | + Sponsored by: Johnson's Wax. The back porch needs scrubbing and Fibber really doesn't want the job. The recording begins as WENR signs off the air and WLS signs on. Both were NBC Chicago affiliates and were sharing the same frequency at this time. The first tune is, "The Weatherman." Fibber McGee & Molly was first broadcast in 1935 and ran in a variety of formats until the final broadcast in 1956. Jim and Marian Jordan played Fibber and his wife Molly in this hilarious domestic comedy. It was written and created by Don Quinn who had also written Smackout. The show made good use of running gags. Probably the best remembered is McGee’s junk-filled closet, which always crashed down on anyone that happened to open the door. Fibber is good, clean entertainment that despite being well over half a century old still has the ability to make you chuckle. |
