Title | : | fibber mcgee and molly (0598) fix coo coo clock |
Air Date | : | 11.08.1949 |
Plot | : | + Sponsored by: Johnson's Wax. Fibber is determined to fix Teeny's cuckoo clock. Bill Thompson appears as "Bessie," a Southern Belle. Cliff Arquette's first appearance on the program. Fibber McGee & Molly was first broadcast in 1935 and ran in a variety of formats until the final broadcast in 1956. Jim and Marian Jordan played Fibber and his wife Molly in this hilarious domestic comedy. It was written and created by Don Quinn who had also written Smackout. The show made good use of running gags. Probably the best remembered is McGee’s junk-filled closet, which always crashed down on anyone that happened to open the door. Liz Cooper bought George a cuckoo clock for Christmas but didn’t have enough money. The man in the jeweller shop let her post date the check to January 13th. Today is January 13th and she doesn’t have the money in her account and needs somehow to get $14.95 as she doesn’t want to end up in jail for an unpaid check. Fibber is good, clean entertainment that despite being well over half a century old still has the ability to make you chuckle. |
